Alberta Delegation Headed to World Petroleum Congress
Cal Dallas, Minister of Intergovernmental, International and Aboriginal Relations, will use the world’s largest and most reputable oil and gas conference to reinforce Alberta’s commitment to responsible energy production.
The World Petroleum Congress takes place from December 4-8 in Doha, Qatar. Since its establishment, this is the first time the conference will be hosted in the Middle East. Held every three years, this year marks the 20th anniversary of the event.
As the senior Canadian official and head of a delegation of approximately 50 Alberta companies, Dallas will deliver a keynote speech at the Canadian Ministerial session to more than 400 conference delegates to reassure energy investors that Alberta is a resourceful, responsible and stable place to invest.
“Promoting Alberta’s dynamic energy industry and positive business climate helps attract national and international investment in our energy sector and beyond,” Dallas said. “I look forward to talking about Alberta’s environmental leadership while strengthening our relationships with government leaders and the private sector abroad.”
During the mission Dallas will also address the Canada Arab Business Council, meet with several key government Ministers from the Middle East including the Minister of Oil for Kuwait and a number of private sector companies. He will discuss shared interests and explore future collaborative efforts to advance cooperation in energy development, research and innovation.
“The delegates attending this conference represent some of the most diverse and prosperous markets in the world,” said Dallas. “During a time of fierce international competition and economic downturns, we need to ensure we are optimizing opportunities for Alberta’s public and private sectors with other countries.”
The total estimated cost of the mission for the Minister and his Executive Assistant is $34,000.
